Decked to Impress: From Football Club to World-class Riverside Destination
The transformation of Fulham Football Club is well underway, turning a once-hidden stretch of the riverside into a world class match day experience. As part of the development of the new Riverside Stand, The Outdoor Deck Company is proud to be contracted to supply and install large areas of contemporary decking systems, delivering stylish and durable terraces for the boardwalk and upper levels over several phases.
The first phase and initial challenge was to ensure the 1200m2 riverside boardwalk was ready in time for the beginning of the football season, when fans were able to enjoy the stunning location alongside hospitality from mobile bars and food trucks.

Phase 1 - The Joining of the Thames Path with the Riverside Promenade
Located next to the river between the Putney and Hammersmith sections of the Thames Path, the stadium has historically obstructed the route, causing Thames Path users to take a detour to get from one section to the other. Opening up the riverside promenade for public access was the first stage in the project enabling uninterrupted walks along the path on non-match days for the first time in many years.
The decking needed to have a finish that both matched the modern design of the stand and was robust enough for public use. To meet these requirements, Bamboo X-treme Woca was chosen; this sustainable material seamlessly blends with the natural setting of the Riverside Stand. Additionally, a double grip strip was added for enhanced slip resistance, making it an ideal selection.
Through a winning combination of hard work by our teams of installers and clever product selection including DPH pedestals from Buzon, the boardwalk was ready for the public opening in August 2024, delivered to the same high standard and meticulous attention to detail that The Outdoor Deck Company is renowned for.
With the first phase completed, it is already impressing owners and locals alike. Shahid Khan, Fulham FC Chairman described the project as “…even more spectacular than I was expecting,” and when combined with the panoramic view of London will make Fulham Football club: “the most beautiful stadium on the planet.”
Phase 2 – Fulham Pier
Set to open in Summer 2025, Fulham Pier will be the culmination of the transformation of the new Riverside Stand into London’s newest destination. Featuring live music, entertainment and hospitality, the seven floors will also include a gym, swimming pool, and spa. The fit-out is underway and it's clear that this new communal space is set to be a vibrant destination for both football fans, residents and visitors to experience all year round.
With the bamboo walkway now complete and open to the public, The Outdoor Deck Company have moved onto the upper levels of the stand, installing more Bamboo as well as areas of commercial-grade composite, Silvadec.
Silvadec offers a contemporary, non-fade finish with high slip resistance (PTV>50), making it ideal for poolside areas or spa access, where hygiene and safety are crucial. These low-maintenance boards are also splinter-free and often used in hotels, cafes, and restaurants due to their ease of cleaning, making them perfect for the next phase of this riverside transformation.
